The National Retail Federation Calls Out the Menswear Brand’s Unique Tech-First Approach

Indochino, the leader in custom online menswear, has been selected to participate in the National Retail Federation’s “This is Retail” campaign for its unique take on technology. NRF is going behind the scenes to discover the technology that powers the custom suiting brand.

This is Retail aims to address misconceptions about jobs in retail, highlighting opportunities for innovative and creative careers within the retail industry. At Indochino, the technology department is one of the largest in the organization – with over a dozen full-time engineers. These engineers are responsible for developing the ecommerce platform, building the mobile apps that power the in-store experience, and creating the systems and processes that create patterns, manage partners, and assess quality.

The important role of technology is visible in the video NRF produced in partnership with Indochino, which launched this week and is viewable at

“I never set out to build a retail company,” explains Kyle Vucko, Indochino Co-Founder and CEO. “I wanted to address a problem – helping guys get into great fitting clothes, affordably and simply, in a way that made sense for them. That’s what Indochino aims to do and we use technology to make it possible. It’s an honor to be recognized by NRF for the innovative approach that we’re taking when it comes to technology and retail.”

“Indochino, easily one of the most innovative companies known in retail, was an obvious choice for NRF’s This is Retail campaign,” said NRF SVP for Communications and Public Affairs, Bill Thorne. “Their use of cutting-edge technology previews the future of retail – a seamless customer experience from online to in-store. We are eager to showcase their unique company culture and modern approach to e-commerce.”

Other components of the partnership include trend analysis of the men’s fashion industry and a wide-ranging Q&A with an Indochino software engineer.   According to a recent government study, retailers now hire more engineers than Silicon Valley.
